Dental implants offer an advanced and long-lasting solution for restoring one or more missing teeth. Implants protect your jawbone against further bone loss and don’t require healthy teeth to be modified. This sophisticated technology can be used to support crowns, bridges and dentures.
Here at Family Dental Care, we can provide your complete implant treatment, including the most up-to-date image guided implant surgery. We use the most advanced and lifelike materials to fabricate fully functional and aesthetically appealing implant restorations.
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant artificially replaces a natural tooth root. A small titanium post is surgically inserted into the jawbone where over a period of several months, it gradually integrates with the bone until it becomes strong and stable enough to support a restorative implant tooth. Once healing is complete, the implant post is fully restored with an implant tooth.
Who Can Have Dental Implants?
Most healthy adults without existing dental problems will be suitable for treatment. Your initial consultation for dental implants will determine your suitability. Our dentist will need to evaluate your medical history as conditions affecting your immune system may make it more difficult to heal after surgery. Certain medications may also have an adverse effect on healing. Age isn’t generally a factor and many older adults have benefitted from using dental implants to restore their ability to eat and talk properly.
