The back teeth, called molars and premolars come under significant pressure during chewing and if they become decayed, a normal filling may not be strong enough to repair the tooth. An inlay or onlay is a stronger and more durable filling that will restore your tooth so you can chew without fear of it fracturing. Inlays are designed to restore the centre of the chewing surface. Onlays are slightly larger than inlays and can replace one or more of your tooth cusps, the raised points on your back teeth.
We can carefully fabricate your inlay or onlay from porcelain or from a highly advanced pressable ceramic called eMax, or from precious gold alloy. These restorations are indirect fillings, meaning they will be made in a dental laboratory, requiring two visits to Family Dental Care. All these choices are precision-made and will restore and protect your tooth, preventing infection and decay.
We’ll then take a look at it and get back to you with potential treatment options to meet your needs
