Get a Healthy Smile with Great Oral Hygiene

Teeth Brushing

Use a soft to medium bristled brush to gently yet thoroughly clean your teeth at least twice a day using fluoride toothpaste. It doesn’t matter if you use an electric or manual as technique is more important. Aim to spend at least two minutes cleaning your teeth and clean each quarter of your mouth for thirty seconds. As you brush, concentrate on methodically brushing all tooth surfaces.

Flossing

Aim to floss at least once-a-day, preferably last thing at night. Break off a 45cm length of floss and wind it around your middle fingers. Use your thumbs and index fingers to guide the floss in between each tooth. Take the floss right down to and just below the gum line and hold it close to the tooth as you gently move it up and down. Wind on the floss so you use a fresh section for each tooth.

Even if your oral hygiene routine is excellent, your check-ups and cleanings are vital and allow us to closely monitor your dental health and to treat any problems that may develop. Regular professional cleanings are essential for good oral health and strong gums, and will help to prevent gum disease which can cause tooth loss and may even affect your general health.
