invisalign-doncaster-eastWhat is Invisalign?

Your dentist in Doncaster East would normally recommend these clear aligners for you if you have any misaligned or crooked teeth that are ruining an otherwise lovely smile. Using a custom moulded, see-through brace that exerts a small, precise and gentle amount of force, we are able to straighten mis-aligned teeth.

Treatment expectations

When you come into our Family Dental Care practice our team will provide you with a quick, thorough and professional service that will leave your teeth looking better than ever.

Generally, we would get you in for a consultation meeting first to discuss the treatment suitability and what you can expect. Then we will take a series of scans, using lasers or LEDs, to gather as much information as we can about your teeth. This data is then used to create a 3D representation of your mouth on a computer screen that we can then manipulate with software to show you how we will straighten your teeth.

The scanning section of the treatment is the most interesting part,  as it lets our patients see the finished results before they wear the brace, which is a great bonus and helps patient’s motivation to complete the treatment. After a plan of action has been formed, we would then send your data off to a lab, who will create a mouthguard that will be tailored to fit only you.

Over time, you may also have to wear additional appliances as your teeth change position, but your dentist will usually discuss that with you first.

Keeping your clear braces clean

After leaving your dentist in Doncaster East, your job will then be to keep your braces clean and in your mouth for as long as you’re instructed to. Maintaining your guard is incredibly easy; we recommend you mix a small amount of special cleaning fluid with water then lightly scrub this solution across the brace with a toothbrush. Do this at least once every two days, to clean out any bacteria and food particles and to help reduce staining.

Aftercare advice

After having this treatment performed, you may experience some mild discomfort whilst wearing the brace. To help this you can use over the counter pain medication, if it gets a little too much. You can also remove the brace briefly for a break or to brush your teeth and eat, but generally you should be wearing it for at least 22 hours a day.

Taking your brace out too often can potentially impact your realignment, so keep it in at all times where possible. If you do have to remove it, rinse it and then store it in a hard-bodied container to dry, this will keep it sterile and safe from being damaged.

Hopefully this has helped clear up a few facts about our Invisalign treatment. If you’re looking to get a straighter smile, then ask your dentist about it on your next visit to the practice.

All treatment carries risks. Individual consultation is required with one of our practitioners to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
